Hypnotherapy With Craig
Hypnotherapy in Colchester and Online
If you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, or simply worn down by life, you are not alone.
Most people who reach out to me are not looking for quick tricks. They want clarity. They want a calmer mind. They want to feel steady again.
Hypnotherapy can help, but not on its own.
The mind and body work together, and real change comes from understanding both. That is the approach I use.

This is not traditional hypnotherapy where someone reads a script at you.
It is a structured approach designed to help you understand what your system is doing and why it feels the way it does.
Some sessions use hypnosis.
Some focus on grounding, clarity, or emotional processing.
Some help you rebuild confidence and motivation.
All of them work with the way your mind and body function in daily life.
Why people choose this approach
Most clients come to me because they want:
-
relief from anxiety or constant overthinking
-
better emotional regulation
-
support with stress, burnout, or fatigue
-
help with eating patterns or weight worries
-
calmer sleep
-
freedom from habits, cravings, or coping behaviours
-
clarity in relationships
-
a sense of direction again
These are not weaknesses.
They are signs that your system has been carrying too much for too long.
You do not need to force yourself through it.
You need a method that matches what you are experiencing.
How hypnotherapy works here
Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention.
It allows the mind to quieten enough for you to think, feel, and process more clearly.
In my practice, hypnosis can be used for:
-
calming an overloaded nervous system
-
processing emotional experiences
-
reducing fear and stress responses
-
breaking unhelpful habits
-
increasing confidence and self-trust
-
supporting weight and food work
-
improving sleep and pain management
It is gentle.
You remain aware.
You stay in control at all times.
What sessions are like
Sessions are calm, reflective, and practical.
We look at three things:
1. What you are feeling
The tiredness, stress, cravings, shutdowns, or worry that brought you here.
2. Why your system is responding this way
Your mind and body are responding to the world around you and your inner experience. However it might seem, the inner system is always trying to protect you.
3. What we can do next
Tools, exercises, and strategies that match your situation and build real change.
Everything is adapted to you.
No scripts. No pressure. No guilt.
Common areas I help with
People usually come to hypnotherapy when something in their system feels out of balance. It might be anxiety, stress, overeating, low motivation, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself or others. Whatever the pattern, the aim is to understand what is happening and help you feel steady again.
My work focuses on six core areas: emotional wellbeing, mindset and motivation, weight and food, sleep and pain, lifestyle control, and relationships. Each brings its own challenges, and the approach adapts to what you need in each session.
You can explore these areas in more detail on their dedicated pages. They cover anxiety, overwhelm, procrastination, cravings, insomnia, chronic pain, habits, and relationship patterns. You are welcome to read through them or book a session and we can look at your situation together.

Emotional Wellbeing
Emotional wellbeing covers the moments when your system feels overloaded. Anxiety, stress, panic, and periods of overwhelm often come from a mind and body working far harder than they can manage.
Hypnotherapy can help calm the internal alarm system so you can think more clearly, feel more grounded, and understand the patterns driving your emotional responses.

Struggles with motivation are rarely about willpower. Most people feel stuck because their system does not feel safe or steady enough to move forward.
Hypnotherapy helps reduce the mental noise, settle the stress load, and rebuild confidence so you can make decisions without pressure or guilt.

Issues around food, cravings, bingeing, and weight are often tied to stress, emotion, and long-standing patterns rather than lack of discipline.
Hypnotherapy can help you understand the drivers behind these behaviours and create space for calmer, more consistent choices. It supports both the psychology and physiology behind eating patterns.
Pain and Sleep
Chronic tension, insomnia, anxiety, and long-term pain conditions often worsen when the nervous system is overwhelmed.
Hypnotherapy helps your system shift towards rest, easing the intensity of symptoms and improving your ability to recover. It supports a calmer mind, quieter nights, and a more manageable baseline.
Lifestyle Choices and Control
When habits start to take over, it is usually because they have become a way of coping with stress, emotion, or discomfort.
Whether it is alcohol, smoking, vaping, drugs, or gambling, hypnotherapy helps you understand the urge, reduce the pressure behind it, and build healthier ways of regulating your system.
Relationships
Relationship patterns often reflect the beliefs and experiences you carry with you. Attachment styles, people pleasing, conflict responses, and emotional distance all make sense once you understand the meaning your system has attached to connection.
Hypnotherapy helps you explore these patterns safely and develop healthier ways of relating.

What If I Can't Be Hypnotised?...
This is such a common question!
The state of hypnosis is a perfectly natural state that we all move in and out of everyday.
Clinical hypnotherapy helps you to access this state to make lasting and positive change. You remain totally aware and in control at all time.

Can I Try Hypnosis?...
All hypnosis is actually self-hypnosis. It isn't ever something that a hypnotherapist "does to you" - the hypnotherapist offers suggestions that you can choose to follow that can help you access the inner state that we call hypnosis, sometimes called meditative trance, active imagination, or even visualisation.
