Why I Do What I Do
Everyone has a story that shapes how they see the world.
Mine shaped how I understand the mind, the nervous system and the pressures people carry every day.
Before I became a clinical hypnotherapist and health coach, I spent years navigating burnout, anxiety, emotional overwhelm and the impact of childhood experiences I didn’t yet understand. I pushed through life with discipline and determination, not realising that the strategies that helped me succeed were also quietly exhausting me.
My personal journey through collapse, recovery and growth ultimately became the foundation of the Mind Works approach.
This page gives a brief overview of how that happened; and why this work is so important to me.
My Story Became The Work; The Work Becomes My Story
The Core Concepts of Mind Works are the tools that grew from years of lived experience, study and client work. They bring together everything I learned about stress, physiology, identity, motivation and change. I am proud of these tools because they help people understand themselves with clarity and compassion, wherever they are starting from.
If you would like a clear map of how the Mind Works approach fits together, you can explore all nine Core Concepts here. They form the foundation of the work and the starting point for anyone ready to move forward with direction and confidence.

Lived experience shaped my understanding long before any training did.
For years, I worked hard, achieved, performed and pushed myself through exhaustion. On the outside, life looked successful. On the inside, I was struggling. A major burnout and a difficult recovery period forced me to understand my mind and body in ways I had never done before.
The early stages of recovery were confusing, fragile and uncomfortable. They became the beginning of my interest in psychology, trauma, nervous system regulation and the deeper forces that shape human behaviour.
These experiences did not just influence my work; they became the blueprint for it.
The Training That Followed
Professional training gave structure to what I had lived.
Having made the decision to leave my career in Financial Services, I fully immersed myself in to a wide range of professional training and study.
As much as this supported my work with my clients, it was as much about understanding myself and finding and developing tools that would support my recovery, health, wellbeing, and experience & enjoyment of life
I trained in:
-
Clinical Hypnotherapy
-
Mindfulness and Meditation
-
Health Coaching
- Nutrition
- Trauma-informed approaches
-
Internal Parts Work
-
Nervous system science
-
Behaviour change psychology
And I began working with clients experiencing anxiety, burnout, emotional eating, low motivation, stress drinking and chronic overwhelm.
The same patterns appeared over and over again — in them and in myself.
This helped shape the early foundations of the core concepts of the Mind works with Craig approach. These are a set of practical, psychological and scientifically-grounded tools.:
What began as my personal recovery became a structured, integrated way of helping people understand themselves.
Why I Do This Work
The intention at the heart of Mind Works, helping people to overcome the pervasive feeling of being anxious, overwhelmed, and tired
People often arrive feeling overwhelmed, carrying stories they have never fully understood. Many have spent years believing their struggles reflect a personal flaw, even though they are responding to pressures, physiology and past experiences that would challenge anyone.
I do this work because clarity changes lives. When people understand their mind and body, the shame they carry begins to lift. Patterns that once felt confusing become easier to navigate. The internal pressure softens, and a more compassionate relationship with themselves becomes possible.
My aim is to help people make sense of their experiences in a way that feels honest, human and grounded. When things finally join together, change becomes something real and achievable.
The most common experience that people describe is feeling Anxious, Overwhelmed, and Tired.
This is has become a central pillar to what I do, using this as a start point for whatever journey lies ahead. It reflects what I have come to call the recurring cycle
What You’ll Find in the Full Story
I have decided to share the 24 key and pivotal moments of my life that have led me to this point and have became the lived experience that underpin my research and approach
The full story on this site is more than a personal history. It is an honest account of the Acts and Chapters that shaped the Mind Works approach. You will find the moments that strengthened me and the moments that broke me open. You will see how stress, identity, physiology and early experiences formed patterns I did not understand until years later.
You will also see how clarity grows when we stop avoiding our deeper chapters. The story shows how burnout, anxiety, inner conflict and overwhelm can all make sense when viewed in the context of a life lived under pressure. It shows how understanding the narrative we have been following helps us change the one we are moving into.
I share it because I would never ask someone to explore their own past or internal world without being prepared to do the same. Your story never needs to be published online, but my hope is that by sharing mine, it shows that the darker moments we protect or hide do not define us. When approached with care, they become the beginning of insight and stability.
The full story traces how each chapter shaped the tools I now teach, and how those tools can support you in understanding your own path.
